Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine, used for over 3000
years in China. Research has shown that acupuncture stimulates the brain
to produce pain-relieving chemicals, endorphins, which kick-start the body
into healing itself and giving pain relief. Treatment does not work for
everybody and every condition, but frequently good results are achieved
when conventional medicine has failed. Conditions, which can benefit
include arthritis, back/neck pain, muscle and joint problems,
migraines/headaches/stress and anxiety, sports injuries and many more.
There is nothing spiritual about it and you don’t need to believe in it
for it to work for you.
Isokinetic Exercise
|
Isokinetics is an advanced exercise system for assessment and intensive
rehabilitation post injury. The device allows accurate measurement of
muscle function identifying imbalances between muscle groups and potential
for muscle injury. Pre-season screening can be recorded and should an
injury occur, further tests could be used to assess player’s levels of
fitness and ability to return to their sport.
Post
surgery or injury the isokinetic machine comes into its own for rehab
providing the most intense work out for specific muscles. Providing you
with a detailed, measured record of recovery and how your injury is
progressing through your rehabilitation program.

Rehabilitation Program
We
will also monitor and advise you on an extensive rehabilitation program
that may include running, gym work, swimming or a personalised weights
program in order to get you back to full fitness.
Gait Scan
The
gait Scan is a revolutionary assessment device that can be used to measure
the force distribution through the foot as we walk or run over a platform
with thousands of small sensors that detect our weight. Poor alignment of
the feet can cause wear and tear to other parts of the body. Excessive
pronation can significantly over load the lower limb resulting in a wide
variety of problems including shin splints, achilles tendonitis, knee, hip
and back problems.
The
scan gives an instant reading that shows the force distribution and areas
where excessive force is being applied. With a full history and
examination of the foot a custom or off the shelf orthotic can be
applied. Exercises to strengthen or stretch structures that will improve
walking pattern will also be available.
Patients can receive a printout and graph of their scan and compare their
foot biomechanics to an ideal normal foot.
